Protected Health Information (PHI)

Any health information that can identify an individual, regulated under HIPAA.

Electronic PHI (ePHI) is subject to the HIPAA Security Rule's administrative, physical and technical safeguards. De-identification under §164.514(b) Safe Harbor removes PHI status.
